Unlike other parts of the world, Australia celebrates Christmas in the summer season. Often it can be seen that Santa is arriving on a boat or a surfboat instead of sleigh. Since it’s the summer time so many of the Australian celebrate their Xmas on the beach specially Bondi Beach (in the eastern suburb of Sydney) .They also decorate their houses with Christmas Bush a local plant that yields red floral leaves. Carols By Candlelight is the most famous activity held on the Christmas Eve attended by a large number of people. Families go to the churches during this time and decorate their homes in the conventional way.
A traditional Christmas meal includes turkey, ham and pork. For the dessert flaring Christmas plum pudding is served with a gold nugget inside it. Whoever gets that nugget destined to have a year long good luck. Nowadays it is replaced by small favors. Other popular afters are Mince Pies. |
